NoQu 26: The Orchid Clocktower

Announcing this year's theme...

At last, the time has come to make the 2026 theme known!

As you may know, Geata has been over writing the bulletin since 2022. When we were discussing our vision for this year, she said that the concept of "humanity in creativity" had been on her mind, and thus the theme was born.

With the rise of Artificial Intelligence, and NoQu just releasing our official policy on it, we couldn't have a better 2026 theme.

This particular bulletin has been especially close to Geata's heart, and so we hope it will touch yours as well.

My project for this year is to rediscover both a love and a discipline for writing. (Actual writing, not just all of the adjacent activities that go into "being a writer.") I do have a handful of specific book ideas I'm likely to work on, but the main thing is just to explore, and to facilitate that exploration by writing at least 500-1,000 words each designated writing day (Mon-Wed, Fridays as a bonus). I'm not real likely to meet the official NoQu goal, but that's okay. Hopefully this will be the start of returning to a place where I can participate more "officially" next year!

As for the books I may work on...

  • One is non-fiction on how to map an author career using The Hero's Journey, written through a distinctly Christian lens.

  • The second is a romance novel set in a Regency-inspired fantasy setting.

  • And the newest idea is a MG mystery adventure novel about two sisters who are searching for the parents they've been separated from.

And who knows what else might catch my attention as I get back into the habit of writing and pursuing new ideas!
