Crocheters, assemble!

Anyone else here crochet? What got you started, and what's your current project? My grandmother started teaching me to crochet when I was around 8 or so, and I practiced for a few years before setting it aside pretty thoroughly. I picked it back up about three years ago and I've gotten deeper into it now that I'm older: trying more stitches, using patterns, venturing into garments, etc.

My current project is a shawl/shrug for my grandmother (the same one who got me started in the first place), and I'm also hoping to make a few miniature bees for a baby mobile as a Christmas present for my daughter. Shrug yarn: "Heathcliff" from Knit Picks Shrug pattern: Almond Flowers from Expression Fiber Arts (which is my favorite yarn/pattern shop!) Bee yarn: 'Pearlescent' fingering yarn in "mum hues" (color set no longer available) from Expression Fiber Arts Bee pattern: Tiny Bee Amigurumi by The Wandering Deer…

Victorian Mystery WIP art!

This is such a cool group, I love seeing everyone else's WIP art as well!

Here is a portrait I drew of the main character, Harriet Winslow, in my series I'm starting. She's supposed to be 12, but I don't know, does she look a lot older in this picture?

Whoa, what a cool detailed portrait of your character! (She definitely looks like a Harriet, hehe.) Her brooch and neck ruff and the curls in her hair, ah! 😍 And of course that darling little hat.

Hmm her eyes look a little older than twelve years old, but you've definitely captured the right age in her mouth and chin I think. Sometimes I find that if you define the eyebrows and upper nose-to-brow lines too strongly, it can make a character look older? So that's something that might help. But she looks determined and brave!

Let me draw your characters! 2025 Edition [Transferred from the forum]

(Moving this over from the forum before it disappears haha)

So a bunch of artists used to do this on NaNoWriMo every year, drawing everyone else's characters for free, and it was the best fun. 😄There'd be stuff like "I'll make a playlist for your character" or "tell me about your novel and I'll make a moodboard for it" etc.

I'm here to offer free drawings of your characters. Inktober is here, so why not kill two birds with one stone -- kick my Inktober goals and make some writers happy! Here are some characters I've drawn for writer folks:

I work best with human characters, in historical & fantasy genres, and I use ink & pencil. Fill out the form below, and I'll try to draw your character for funsies.

I can't promise I'll get to everyone, but another artist might be inspired to illustrate your character if they're perusing this thread...who…
