My name is D. Emery Bunn (go-by Emery). Three of my favorite books are The Lord of the Rings, Isaac Asimov's Foundation trilogy (they're so tightly linked they might as well be one book), and Dune. I love science fiction and fantasy, but will read near anything that makes me think (my typical reading flow is nonfiction/fiction back and forth).

I got into long-form writing back in 2011 for NaNoWriMo, scooting across the finish line with a couple days to spare and blowing past the length of any previous creative work by an order of magnitude. II went on to use NaNo as my "drafting" month for several years (2011-2016), finishing multiple drafts of two books that I have since self-published, though other revisions and full rewrites happened in between. I got off the NaNo train back in 2019 when I just didn't have the time for that on top of graduate studies and a full-time job. 2020 was a brutal nail in the coffin when they made political pandering more important than actually writing novels ("if you have any physical meetup at all, it's in violation of NaNo rules").

My NoQu project for 2025 is the third book in the trilogy of those first two, finally bringing to a close a concept I first thought of in 2008 and took on a much bigger life than I originally planned.
