Introduction

I tried doing this awhile back and it didn't work for some reason (faulty internet connection, I think), but I'll try again!

Hello to all! My name is Joshua, and I am a Midwestern father, philosopher, poet, and aspiring author. I've only in the last year or so begun to get my work published, and even then it's been only shorter pieces--mainly because I've never finished the longer ones. But there is always hope for that!

I'm excited to be a part of this Qummunity--I am impressed and pleased with the general mindset of the people here. For me, faith comes first, and it looks like I'll be "write" at home here!

I look forward to connecting more with you all! Feel free to talk to me anytime about ancient Greek and Latin, British authors, homesteading, philosophy, theology, music, raising a family, coffee... etc. ;)

Welcome, Joshua!

Greek and Latin, British authors, homesteading, philosophy, theology, music, raising a family, coffee... etc.

Oh dear, that's too many excellent topics I'm afraid.

Hi All! Newbie here :3

So, I'm a little new to this whole NoQuRiCo thing, and I immigrated here after NaNoWriMo shut down, so can I like get a backstory on the thing if anyone knows? Thanks! -Bon Bon :3

Edit: I just saw the post Edna made, so here, I'll introduce myself

-My name is Bon Bon (as you can see) and I am 14. -My three favorite books are probably In His Steps, Animal Farm, and The Outsiders, which im currently reading. -My favorite genre is probably drama/young adult fiction -I got into writing because I wrote Bible devotionals at my old school in elementary school, and in 7th grade I got assigned to do NaNoWriMo for my November paper, and I just kept doing it after lol -My NoQuWriCo project is a little story about a kid in Compton, California, rambling about his issues and trying to make it out in the world. My goal is 21,000…

Hi, Bon Bon! Happy to have another teen in the group! (I had been the only one until you came along.) Because of that, I'd encourage you to join the Christian Teens, Together! group. I was the only person on it besides the moderators :D

Greetings!

Hello everyone! My name is Anton Logathro - well, no it's not, but that's what you can call me. (This is a writing community, so we all know about pen names, right?) I am at the moment only an aspiring writer, since I haven't finished any novel-length writing projects yet; I've started one, but I realized after I'd gotten a good bit into it that it had several major plot holes and needed a complete overhaul. That project is not the one I will be working on this month, particularly because one of the things I wanted to do the second time around was to make one of the main characters speak an invented language - which I have yet to develop! Instead, what I'll be working on is less something I intend to publish and more a collection of ideas I hope to expand on in future books and…

Welcome, Anton! I grew up loving Redwall--nice choice! Actually, one of my unfinished projects is a fanfiction novel to add to the Redwall series! And we share a love of languages, too; I approve. ;) I have an invented one that is very incomplete, but I've always wanted to dust it off and improve/complete it. Nice to meet you!

Hello, I'm Charity!

I'm Charity Land, I've been writing since I was 13 and have published 11 books, 6 of which are a series (Legacy of Chevolta).

I am a farmwife and mother of 3 obsessed with history, Gardening, costuming, and drawing.

I just had a baby and am taking the time to not only rest and recover physically but creatively as well, so I am taking a break from editing my 100k novel, and just starting a fun middle grade book for November!

It's so fun to find a like-minded community of writers to encourage one another in our God-given gift!

A farm, a baby, published books - you're living the dream! Congratulations on so many wonderful accomplishments, and welcome to our community!

Belated Introduction

My name is D. Emery Bunn (go-by Emery). Three of my favorite books are The Lord of the Rings, Isaac Asimov's Foundation trilogy (they're so tightly linked they might as well be one book), and Dune. I love science fiction and fantasy, but will read near anything that makes me think (my typical reading flow is nonfiction/fiction back and forth).

I got into long-form writing back in 2011 for NaNoWriMo, scooting across the finish line with a couple days to spare and blowing past the length of any previous creative work by an order of magnitude. II went on to use NaNo as my "drafting" month for several years (2011-2016), finishing multiple drafts of two books that I have since self-published, though other revisions and full rewrites happened in between. I got off the NaNo train back in 2019 when I just didn't have the time for that on top…

Welcome, Emery! Man, finishing a project that started all the way back in '08 is awesome! The must be bittersweet, though. I get so attached to my significantly younger projects I have a hard time finishing them.

Introductions - Hannah

Hi Everyone! I'm so excited to have found you guys because I'm on the hunt for a writing group (or even just a couple of writer buddies!) who are more aligned with my Christian/Conservative values, since the kind of culture we create in the world by putting our writing out into it matters. I'm Hannah - I feel like a late bloomer to my writing career, but I think I'm actually right on time for God's purposes in it :D I'm 37, and have been writing "seriously" for only the last two years and some months. But I have loved writing ever since I could hold a pencil, and *have* been writing since then, just not prioritizing it or calling myself a writer. You know. But now I am, and it's been amazing. I don't read as much as I'd like to (raising young children over here), but recently super enjoyed Bethany…

Introducing Justin L.

Hello everyone! My name is Justin, or I am happy to use my online handle Fatebreak or just Fate. I'm very excited to join this new community of writers and to challenge myself to write (not quite) 50k words with all of you this November!

3 Favorite Books: A Wrinkle in Time, The Chronicles of Narnia, Ender's Game

Favorite Genres: I am very much a nerd and I'm in love with the Fantasy and Sci-Fi genres. I love a good, classical style adventure story. My favorite stories are the ones with a healthy dose of philosophy and introspection built in.

I have wanted to be a writer all my life. I spent most of my childhood coming up with, and then immediately discarding, countless story ideas. Lately however, I have found that putting myself in community with other writers has helped give me focus and the confidence that I need…

I also loved all your favorite books and reread Ender's Game. I need to reread the others, too. Let's finish our books this November, woohoo!

🍂🍁🎃 Introduction - Lioncourt 🎃🍁🍂

Hello! I already introduced myself on forums, but I think they're gone now, so hi, everybody!!! I am so glad to have found this Qummunity! I've done NaNoWriMo ever since I went to college, and when I logged into the website to start a new project this year, I got a sad surprise.... But so glad to have found Novel Quest!

The "Ber Months" are my favorite time of year, and fall is by far my favorite season!! (It's basically my entire personality — not really, but I love it a lot.) I wish I could have this beautiful, cozy, spooky, autumn weather and vibes all year around. I love Halloween and everything spooky. I'm also obsessed with history and dogs.

NoQu Project - I just started a book that takes place in 17th century New England, during an era of witch trials, religious zeal, and political corruption. I want…

Hi Lioncourt, good to meet you! I am an anti-creepy books reader (what am I even trying to say, haha), but I did actually enjoy Dracula, and your story sounds good! I'm also enjoying the Ber months more and more.

Introductions - BookWormC

Hi, everyone! My name is BookWormC! I am 15 years old (which is why I'm not sharing my full name😁), a homeschool sophomore, and I am super excited to participate in NoQu this year!

Hmm.... I have a LOT of favorite books! Some include:

  • Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

  • Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austin

  • Anything by Melanie Dickerson

My favorite genres include Romance and Historical Fiction.

I love that you're using this for school work - good for you! I'm actually in the middle of Pride and Prejudice - maybe your reminder of it will give me the push I need to finish! Good to meet you, and good luck on your project :)

Intro - Melinda Erin

Hello! My name is Melinda, also known as melindaerinwrites, or fallingmeridian on Discord. I write fantasy and Christian speculative fiction from the southwestern foothills of the Rocky Mountains.

My current project is in the rewrite/editing stage while I also plot out my next project. I'm a bit of a Plantser, so I plan very little before I let the story go forward by itself.

My favorite genres are fantasy (Elizabeth Moon and Terry Pratchett) and murder mysteries (love a good Agatha Christie).

I also suck at naming stories so I use cryptic code names until I'm forced to name them (current project is cathartes aura).

I think I'm a plantster, too, Melinda :) But I might be a heavier plotter than what you do. I love learning what other people do to prep/how they write their stories, and love it when people are working on multiple things. I also think that works for me! Anyway, good to meet you, looking forward to writing with you <3

Introduction- OtterRMS

Howdy. I’m Otter, or OtterRMS. Everyone’s creepy weird friend that lurks in the background because she’s not much for social media…

I am obsessed with history (all aspects but particularly ancient egypt, and war history), spooky things (folklore, cryptozoology, true crime, murder mysteries and gothic novels, forensic science, etc), and about a thousand other things I’m forgetting I’m sure. Basically if you ever have weird questions about something creepy or historical I’m your girl.

I am currently working on editing the second draft of a christian, gothic horror, sci-fi mix of a book. It’s going both awesome and horrible all at the same time. The book is very close to home and involves my own personal growth but also I forgot how grueling editing and the just parsing of words part of writing a book is. To be fair, I had writer’s block for the last few years so I…

I so relate to "It's going both awesome and horrible at the same time" - lolol. That's exactly how I feel about my story. So good to meet you! :) :)

Introductions: Jess the Inky Baroness

G'day everyone! Very happy to have found this little community. (This is mostly a repost of what I already had on the forums but just wanted to say here I am! 👋😄)

Name/nickname: I'm Jess aka The Inky Baroness from Australia.

Three of your favorite books: The Lord of the Rings by Tolkien, A Tale of Two Cities by Dickens, and anything Jeeves & Wooster.

Your favorite genre(s): Scifi, contemporary, historical, & detective fiction, plus weird multi-genre-bending stuff that doesn't fit anywhere else.

How/why you got into writing: Been making up stories and random characters ever since I was five years old! The urge to write and create and dream up fantastical worlds has never left me. I'm also a massive linguistics nerd -- fun fact, I invented a fictional language for reindeer and called it 'Poro'.

Tell us about your NoQu project: A novella about three kids living in…

Loving your story description, Jess! So good to meet you :)

Introduction- Naomi Morgan

Hello everyone! I'm Naomi, a 20 year old writer from the southern bit of the United States. I basically taught myself to read when I was 3, and haven't stopped since. Eventually I ran out of books to read and decided to write my own. I'll read just about anything, but as far as writing I tend to stick to Fantasy/Urban Fantasy/Dystopia/Apocalypse/Superhero (There's more overlap here than you would imagine!)

Currently I'm outlining the third draft of my Rural Superhero novel Project: Emergence, with the goal of writing said third draft during NoQu. Fun fact: I was the very first winner of NoQu way back when it was NoQuWriMo! (Not Quite Writing Month)

Hi Naomi! "Rural Superhero" is sounding super intriguing! Good to meet you :)

Introductions: R.M. Archer

Hi! I'm Ariel, or Archer. I'm a long-time author, as well as a freelance line editor and worldbuilding mentor—though I'm currently on sabbatical from most of my outward-facing work to focus on family now that my husband and I have our first "little arrow." I look forward to getting back to publishing, editing, putting out courses, etc., but we'll see how long God calls for this sabbatical to last! In the meantime, I'm enjoying this opportunity He's given me to focus on those He's placed close to home.

Even though I'm not publishing, I am still putting some work into writing projects in the background, with a lot less pressure and without the deadlines. This NoQu I don't have one specific project in mind, but I do have a couple that I expect will crop up, including efforts to strengthen the worldbuilding for an epic fantasy trilogy I started several…

Congratulations on your first little arrow, Ariel - I love that! Also love how you're thinking about this new phase of life and how it intertwines with your writing. Good to meet you :)

Introductions: Edna Pellen

I'm Edna, Eddie, or E.P.

Three of my favorite books (sticking to stand-alones to narrow it down) are The Last Dragon by Silvana De Marie, Alice In Wonderland by Lewis Carrol, and Dracula by Bram Stoker (turns out the stand-alones I usually read are classics, haha).

My favorite genre is by far high-fantasy, with sci-fa coming after. I also enjoy sci-fi and historical fiction, and classics (I do very much so love classics). Contemporary, not so much.

My NoQu project is really just NoQu itself. I'm the founder of NoQuWriCo, and as such I have a lot to do behind the scenes. Despite this, I do hope to write a little bit here and there.

When I do write, it'll probably mostly be my micro story series, A Goblin's Day, which I post on my blog. It's an illustrated series of stories following a goblin in his day-to-day life.
